This is a Model 1278 Dining Stacking Side Chair, produced by Steelcase in the 1960s. Steelcase filed for a US patent on this model in 1967, and it was awarded in 1969. The frames of the chairs are made of aluminum, which allows them to remain lightweight while being quite strong. Their shells are made of molded white plastic. Considering this model was released in the late 1960s, the design was quite novel for the time.

Each chair measures 20.75 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 29.75 inches high. They have a seat height of 17.25 inches. We have intentionally left these pieces in their original condition to showcase their history. There are some scant black marks on the chairs, and there is some black paint missing along their sides. The aluminum legs have some patina and some scuffs. Overall, these chairs are in good condition. Please see photos.
